WORLD OF RADIO SCHEDULES UPDATED Sept 3
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

** ALGERIA. 9470, Aug 31 at 0352, S7/S9 of JBM yelling, no doubt
Ifrikya FM as scheduled 0300-0600 via Béchar. Something`s awful in
Algeria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Sept 2 at 1756, LRA36 is on with
music, VG S9/+10 into Argentine SDR; 1758 announcement but I pause for
lunch. 1825 in music again, 1826 contact info, ``comunicad``, 1827
live chat and taking phone calls, from Mendoza? on `Uniendo Voces`
program, discussing weather extremes at Esperanza, like 142 kph winds.
1840 about some anniversary Sept 5. They are really into anniversaries
of whatever. Relating Patagonia to Antártida. 1856 about the South
Atlantic conflict - always got to bring up the Malvinas.

BTW, Mike Cooper forwards an obit for BBC guy who covered that, Harold
Briley
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/aug/31/harold-briley-obituary

There is a lot else to hear, view and accomplish on a Saturday
afternoon, so I don`t pay much attn to details, but recheck
periodically whether it still be on: yes, 2055, 2157, 2236 but
weakening, last trace at 2245 but not sure if s/off or f/out. But
*2255 cuts back on with CW, as if signing on all over, then music. But
gone again at 2259*. Of course, in SSB with little or no carrier,
modulation breaks are tantamount to sign-offs. After 2300 there is ACI
from Chinese on 15480.

Earlier, Manuel Méndez, Spain caught an announcement:
``LRA 36, at 2001 Juan Benavente announces that next Monday September
4, at 1300 Argentine time {16 UT}, an agreement will be signed to
donate a 10 kW transmitter for LRA 36 that will come into operation in
2024. This event will be transmitted live on short wave, 15476usb from
LRA 36. Video of my log about the transmitter donation news:``

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Sept 6 at 2235, no signal of RNA into UTwente, so
11785 Turkey would have had no such ACI if itself were on. 6180 is
however on, only fair signal in Brasuguese presumably during `A Voz do
Brasil`, mandatory government hour. I ask again, whatever became of
RNA`s DRM tests a few years ago which were supposedly successful with
low power but high-gain antennas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 13920, 13530, 13020, 15920, Sept 1 at 1418-1422, CNR1
jammers // in Chinese talk. 13530 strongest. But not on 14920. All in
Aoki as Sound of Hope frequencies: how many more list-loggers will
think they had SOH itself, ignoring the * which means jammed, always
far more likely to be heard; log SOH only if you can rule out CNR1!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 11955, Sept 1 at 1427, S6/S9 open carrier with flutter,
something about to sign on? NO, cuts off at 1430* sharp. Aoki & EiBi
show it was CRI in Indonesian via Kunming at 1330-1430; preceded by an
hour of Malay; and Tagalog/Filipino from 1130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Aug 31 at 0334, R. Progreso is S9+15/25, but very
undermodulated music and mumbling. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba.

5025, Aug 31 at 0339, R. Rebelde is still off, as it had been before?
Idalia. Ron Howard says also silent from first check 0608 to last check
0820. David Crawford, FL, replies:

``5025 Rebelde remains off as of 0230 31 AUG Z. The last time this
happened, when 5025 was taken down by TC Ian in Sept 2022, the 4765 tx
and/or antenna at Bauta were hijacked away from Progreso for a few
months and repurposed for Rebelde. I'm curious to see if it happens
again. Ian was a lot stronger than Idalia, so presumably less damage
resulted this time. In the meantime, 4765 is operating normally, at
least in the relative Cuban radio sense`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Aug 31 at 0339, RHC ``English`` with trace of modulation,
S9+20/30. Also JBM are ``Spanish`` on 9535, 15230. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Sept 1 at 0638, R. Rebelde is back on after missing a
few nights, ID. Ron Howard says that at 1022, RR was weak enough that
Quillabamba, Perú, could be heard mixing. And David Crawford, FL,
replies to my previous report:

``Rebelde 5025 was first noted back on here at 2230 31 AUG Z check.
4765 was noted active simultaneously with 5025 at check at 0200 Z 1
SEP, so there are still two good 60 m txs and antennas at Bauta``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9600, Sept 1 at 0439, RHC Spanish ID in passing, S7 and not
on 9700; others have reported this anomaly a couple times before. Now
we wonder if it be intentional. Something` always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 13820, Sept 2 at 1506, wall-of-noise and pulse
jamming against nothing, as the incompetent DentroCuban Jamming
Command keeps going against OCB`s well-known? B-season-only frequency.
Jamming is JBA beneath A-23`s 13605. Rather it is jamming something on
13820 with a JBA carrier detected amid. Per HFCC it`s USAGM in Pashto
via KUWAIT at 13-17; also an imaginary Moskva at 07-15. Why would
USAGM ever use a frequency ruined forever by Cuban jamming? HFCC
refuses to list any usage by non-members, tho the members need to know
about them. HFCC B-23 conference is imminent in Australia (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 2 at 1508, RHC S5/S6 of dead air or maybe JBM;
15230 likewise but cuts off at 1509* just as I tune in. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9330, Sunday Sept 3 at 0701, spy numbers active
again and overriding WBCQ W.L.C.R. in Portuguese on same. Only 5-digit
groups by YL, no digibursts, cuckoos or Navajo flute music this time.
This hour is `scheduled` four nights a week, M/W/F/Sunday. Neither
station cares about this collision, ongoing ever since WBCQ-6
SuperStition came on. It is still unable to change to any other
frequency even tho many were originally planned and registered in
different bands which also would of course be much more appropriate
for certain times and targets. At least this cripples diffusion of
their flat-earth and all the other nonsense. Way to go, HM01! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR) See also: USA WBCQ

** CUBA. 11760, Sunday Sept 3 at 1508, RHC Esperanto is not missing
this week, S9, but JBA on // 15140 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 4 at 1923, RHC S7/S9 but dead air in English or
JBM? vs S5 line? noise level here, better than up to S9+10/20 on lower
bands. At 1933, Maryland SDR is getting dead air only at S4/S7.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** DENMARK. 5970, Sept 1 at 0440, rock music at S5/S7 vs HSNL into NH
SDR: faded by 0517, but then still S9 into UTwente: certainly not WEWN
or China as only others sked now. Checking since Nino Marabello had
reported Aug 31 that it was WEWN, i.e. reactivating its nighttime
Spanish frequency; I mentioned on WOR 2206 before a chance to
deconfirm that, and now he has corrected his report: ``Here are the
following correct log: 5970 31/8 0445 Radio 208, DK-Hvidovre Px dan
25522. 73 da N. Marabello, QTH Treviso, Italy`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** FRANCE [and non]. 21580, Sept 6 at 1733, JBA weaker than 21470 BBC
Ascension, in turn weaker than 21550 Algeria. EiBi shows 21580 this
hour only is RFI in French to central Africa. That`s the totality of
13mb signals now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 17450, Sept 1 at 1423, JBA signal here, probably
Dengê Welat via Uzbekistan and/or Turkish jammer. Nothing now on
higher channels below 17500. Aoki includes DW on 17450 but at
1040-1155 only, with specific other times for 17455, 17460, 17470,
17475, 17480, 17485. Spans maybe as monitored once, but I don`t think
we can rely on such precise jumparound skeds. EiBi shows them all with
a span of 0300-2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non]. 570, Sept 4 at 0550, listening to a household
Panasonic radio oriented to favor N/S paths, hearing music mixed with
talk stations. 0554 ID as XEBJB Monterrey and Mexican national anthem
long version to about 0558, choral, maybe children`s high voices. IRCA
Mexican Log shows:

``570 XEBJB NL SAN NICOLAS DE LOS GARZA CST Full (4:40) children's
choral just before or after 6 am. Full (4:40) children's choral just
before or after Midnight. Phone: 81-8125-3500 Website:(None)`` And::

``XEBJB NL Monterrey 5000 500 La Voz 24h REL/CCR This channel is being
leased, and currently has no web presence. ABC Noticias format moved
to XEVB 1310AM in 2023. No longer //XHGBO 92.1FM General Bravo. Still
active on AM 7/23 (logged by DXer), but noted falling off the air
repeatedly 6/23 per SDR monitoring``

``San Nicolás de los Garza, sometimes known only as San Nicolás, is a
city and coextensive municipality in the Mexican state of Nuevo León
that is part of the Monterrey metropolitan area. Wikipedia
Mayor: Daniel Carrillo, Weather: 101°F (38°C)`` = same as Enid.

I`ve always wondered where the BJB calls came from: a slogan in
Spanish, or someone`s initials? Probably not from B. J. Bingham,
erstwhile TVDXer in Festus MO.

At 0600 UT, more signal from two US stations, one with Fox news, the
other CBS news. One with ID as WNAX Yankton SD. The other must be KLIF
Dallas. After news at 0606 one goes into C2CAM. NRC AM Log unravels
which be which: WNAX with CBS and Red Eye Radio; KLIF with Fox and
C2CAM. BTW, when noise level permit, both US stations make it here on
daytime groundwave, WNAX twice as far way under KLIF, née WBAP=WFAA in
sharetime deal with 10X bigger 820 transmitter, both? situated N of
midway between D/FW, Grapevine (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185-, Sept 1 at 0625, dead air from XEPPM. Unfortunately
not unusual late at night, no one paying attention? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MEXICO. 6199.999, Sept 2 at 0630, S6/S7 of music from presumed
pirate Hikari FM, very accurate frequency, I measure here or .998 but
within margin of error from 6200.000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 1730 kHz, Sept 4 at 0133 UT, DJ refers to his
pennywhistle signal being heard in Maryland, rock music but off at
0138*. Monitoring via SE Michigan SDR better than a SW Ontario one,
tnx to this tip on the WOR iog:
``[WOR] Fred Flintstone Pirate 1730 khz @ 2120 ET 9/3/23 --- The KRAP
AM Stereo "Fred Flintstone" pirate is active on 1730 khz at 2121 ET
with an ID and out of a Chicago song and other 1970s pop music.
Beautiful audio and S9+ signal here in SW Ontario Canada. Sean Welsh,
Dufferin County, ON CA, Icom IC-8600, W6LVP Loop.``
Several other reports here, agreeing it went off at 0138*
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,117784.0.html
Never came back by 0148 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 USB, Sept 1 at 2341-2349+, S7/S9 of `Stayin`
Alive`, classic rock, OPOB. Many more logs here as unID, but several
heard ``Zeeky talking``:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,117646.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Cf. July reports about KVIS 910 Miamuh, which was playing
music with no announcements: ``Re: KVIS 910 monitoring --- Hi Glenn,
Just to follow up on this, I`ve been through Grove several times in
the past few weeks. It appears KVIS is off the air. This may be old
news but I wanted to follow up. Hope you’re doing great! Chris
KC5IIE`` Krug, Tulsa, Sept 6 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. About the blasting line noise level in Enid. OG&E
troubleshooter visited about 1330 UT Sept 6 and agreed he`s also
hearing it and is getting to work on locating source, but could take a
few days. Then of course repair work can start. Meanwhile I`m hearing
it on MW wherever I drive in Enid; even QRNs the stoplight noise. And
on home rigs it`s all over the SW bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.468 AM, Sept 1 at 1435, S9+10 steady dead air from
local CBer, rather than relaying an FM station. No skip at all now on
10 or 11m.

27184.48 approx. AM, Sept 1 at 2332, S9 open carrier still/again here.
Now there is some QRM and lots of skip on 11m CB, still nothing on 10m
ham (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, random times afternoon of Sept 1 on caradio,
cannot be sure KOCD Okeene even be on air, let alone any $tereo
deadair. Briefly heard some commercial-sounding Spanish, presumably
the Liberal KS fringer (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [non]. 101.5, Sept 6 at 2018 UT, on caradio, fringe signal
pops in long enough to be Spanish with 620 area code, therefore
Liberal KS. In further driving around today and last several days, not
detecting any $tereo dead air in Spanish, so KOCD Okeene seems to
remain totally off the 101.5 air, which is fine since they were unable
to modulate it (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. RF & virtual ch 13, Sat Sept 2 at 2200, KETA of
the OETA network with `People of the North`, a limited series I have
been enjoying among many other travelogs on PBS, and here also on the
Create subchannel. Trouble is, OETA has been scattering it all over
their schedules, and it`s been hard to catch each of 10 episodes just
once. Recommended, anyhow. Great scenery and telegenic hosts. Website
is plugged but it seems complete episodes are not there for streaming,
just 30-second previews:
https://www.peopleofthenorth.net
Create channels can be located in most markets via
https://www.rabbitears.info/search.php?request=network_search&network=Create
I`m not travelling much any more, so really appreciate all those
armchair shows (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SAIPAN. 9910, Sept 2 at 1512, Korean at S6/S8. It`s USAGM at 15-17
per HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11745, Sept 1 at 1425, Arabic mentioning Arabiya
Saudiya, the `AFRTS` service, S9/+10, best overseas signal on band;
also correlating:

[and non] 11860, Sept 1 at 1426, roar from the defective Sa`udi
transmitter for Republic of Yemen Radio program, mixing with R. Martí
and adding to the Cuban jamming of same (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SINT MAARTEN. 1300 kHz, Sept 4 at 1935 UT, I bring up the TWR
Bonaire SDR to check out RHC 15140, q.v., and find it`s tied up but I
may camp upon someone listening to 1300; and hear music. What could
that be? WRTH 2023 shows one Venezuelan, a deportes station in
Caracas, surely not that, likely kaput at 245 km = 136 st miles.

Soon quits so I get 1300 myself at 1936 to hear an ad in English in
US$, and www.pjd2radio.com so that`s it. WRTH has it in the fq list
for West Indies, page 717:
1300 SXM 1 [kW] PJD2 V. of St Maarten, Phillipsburg
but NOT under SAINT [sic] MAARTEN, the very name of which would be a
mixture of English and Dutch; where that call is shown only for FM
102.7 on page 441. 1300 is weak S5 but fairly steady overwater from
one part of Caribbean Netherlands to another, not bad, 862 km = 535 st
miles = 465 nmi. 1945 playing ``Love, Sweet Love``, 1950 hardsell ad
in English. 1955 mentions 102.7. Guess what, that website does not
lead to a radio station but to a blog in --- Thai!! Except for a Roman
name UFASLOT, about gambling. Stranger and stranger. Here`s the
correct radio link:
https://pjd2radiosxm.com/
Slow loading. ``Welcome to the Voice of St Maarten --- We are proud to
be providing the caribbean with the best in broadcast radio for over
35 years. We have two channels 102.7FM and 1300AM. Our Listeners are
guaranteed to get the latest in news in and around our community. We
have the most talented collection of DJ’s on the island to keep our
listener entertained and update with the latest music``

And with separate AM and FM player linx. If you play one, the other
stops. Maybe not/always // but are the same at 2018 in a YL talk show
about self-images, social media influencers. Ends at 2043, adstring
-2050 for flights to Bonaire, St. Maarten Concrete, Caribbean Lottery,
etc. Seems that ``SXM`` is common lingo for the place, not just ITU.
``Power 102.7 is here to cool it down``, 2051 back to music.

Brings back memories of my visit to SXM tho I don`t recall going to
the station itself, implied above to exist only since 1987. Is there
any Dutch on it, or even French? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Sept 1 at 2200, token English from SFR, VG
S9+20/25 into Maryland SDR; almost as good on 17715 & 15520, inferior
on squealy 11670. Top news item about price increases of olive oil in
past year, up 38%, but Extra Virgin OO up 227%, leading to a crime
wave. 2206 feature is Justin Coe visiting and interviewing in a
striking building about authors` & composers` compensation, abbr`d
ASGAY? Inside is an exhibition about Spanish rock bands. Not that I
care about this subject, but back to it at 2220 after trying to put up
with the distortion on VOT. I try to google correct spelling; asgay
gets sidetracked to gay stuff; asgaii comes up as a possibility but
then that`s sidetracked to Did You Mean ASCII! (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Mon Sept 4 at 2200, token English from SNR, pips
within 4 sex of those from Turkey via different remotes, this one
being Maryland SDR, S9+15, and also 15520, 17715, 11670. Again the two
YLs hostessing, Amy and Marilýn. After news features are: lament for
bookstore closing in Basque region due to economix having survived the
Franco era; and circa 2218 about the benefits of video games in Spain
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Sept 6 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG into
Maryland SDR, and also in descending order, 15520, 17715, 11670. After
news, first feature about a woman pioneer of Spanish radio, María
Teresa somebody who just died at 82. 2220 multi-lingual ID reel and
interview with Paul --, book writer from England who moved to Ibiza,
but it`s a small island and ``not really Spain``, so moved on to
Extremadura (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 7275, Aug 31 at 0341, Turkish music S9+20/25 direct very
distorted. So this VOT English to NAm hour is no better than the 22
one I more conveniently monitor. BUT:

9770, Aug 31 at 0354, TRT Turkish service playing the ``old version``
interval signal, ~26 distinct notes on xylo?phone; great to hear it
again and I recommend these few minutes, with Burasi - IDs in Turkish;
0355.5 choral/martial NA which they never play on external languages;
0356.5 s/on, having to pronounce www as if in English! and into more
nice Turkish music. S9+25/35, VG signal and modulation and I bet it`s
aimed thisaway: yes, HFCC shows 500 kW, 310 degrees at 0400-0600 to Eu,
same beam as for ENAm. While the 7275 at 0300 is at 325 degrees, for
CIRAF Mexico, Caribbean, all of conterminous USA, except three Pacific
coast states (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2206)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 1 at 2200, VOT English not off the air, VG
S9+35/45 into UTwente but distorted overmodulation, especially
horrible during musical themes; 2212 multi-lingual ID filler reel.
2214 `Weekly Commentary` about Wagner following the crash in Russia.
Rehash of same story and speculation heard countless times before
elsewhere. 2219 music: I can`t stand it any more, back to Spain.
Obviously at TRT no one is listening to their own SW output and there
is no such thing as quality control. Something`s always awry at
Ankara, erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.008, Sept 2 at 2208, VOT English is not off the air,
S9+40/45 into UTwente and with good modulation. 2223 a travelog,
didn`t get the title or subject. By 2230 weakening, only S7/S9, and VP
by 2245. Must be some prop disturbance. Anyhow at 2200-2225 I`m mainly
getting `People of the North`; see OKLAHOMA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 4 at 2200, VOT English timesignal within 4
sex of Spain via different remotes; this is S9+50/55 into UTwente,
also good mod not distorted this time. Listening to REEnglish first;
2230 just ending `The Healing Spring`, music. 2236 ``Always by your
side`` [sic] promo; 2237 ``La Bamba`` theme and `New Day, New Choices`
about the benefits of Turkish coffee. What`s New about that? 2243
``All around the world`` promo; 2244 `Did You Know That` cheese from a
Turkish city dates back 5000 years, most consumed food; by the badax.
2250 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2252 s/off. 2253.6 IS not chopped
off. 2256 interspersing German IDs, ``Hier ist die Stimme Türkije``
until 2258.4* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 5 at 2158, S9+50 into UTwente and OK
modulation, VOT not off the air today in IS; 2200 timesignal 10-15
seconds fast, so what`s the point? Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler, awry at Ankara. Usual sign-on with incomplete English sked
never mentioning this very broadcast. 2201 news giving date today
fifth or was it sixth of September. Caster gives his name but I can
never understand/copy it. Niger coup, sanxions. Azerbaijan vs Armenia.
NK leader expected to meet Putin, in Vladivostok, how convenient.
Myanmar refugees in Bangladesh. Macron to visit Bang. Etc. 2210
`Review of Turkish Press` about maintaining grain corridor, TRNC about
attax in Greek portion, Car exports. 2211 multi-lingual ID filler
reel. 2213 SFX of noise, footsteps? leading in to song. 2217 `Weekly
Commentary` penned by someone in Washington DC, about making computers
safe, quantum computing; read by the badax. 2232 ``Always by your
side`` promo. 2235 recipe for some chicken dish from central Anatolia
: `Turkey`s Geomarked [sic] Products`. 2238 ``with you every hour of
the day`` promo; song. 2252 s/off as if this were some other
broadcast. 2253.7 IS. 2254.5* cut off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 6 at 2200, 2215 and 2230 chex, NO signal of
VOT English into UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2205 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday
August 30 at 2100.5 on WBCQ 7490 -70 Hz = 7489.93, S7/S9 into Virginia
SDR.

Also confirmed UT Thursday August 31 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/25
into Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed UT Thursday August 31 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9/+10 but
noisy into Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed UT Thursday August 31 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/20

** U S A. Re 9330, WBCQ/W.L.C.R. in last report under CUBA [and non]:
``Uncle Bill comments: Considering that the WLC broadcasts wouldn't
work at all if the earth truly were flat, there is an element of
poetry in all this. But as I never tire of preaching, this is why my
fellow Americans should learn to collectively care more than many of
them seem to about the programs being broadcast from the US that
AREN'T disseminating weirdness to those parts of the world that crank
up their radios. Are there no secular humanists left on the continent
able and willing to erect and operate a cultural counterweight?`` --
OMG, UB Tilford is a secular humanist?! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) {no}

** U S A. 5085, Sept 1 circa 0300, still NO signal from WTWW. Last
time I axually heard it was April 1! Since then was expected to resume
as George McClintock was working on repairs and possible reactivation.
Had not heard from him in some time, so I asked for an update August
31. Very brief reply arrived too late to mention on WOR 2206:

``21 acres will be sold in about 2 or 3 months as commercial property.
The new owner will make a decision on the station's future. George
McClintock, 8-31-2023`` --- Once final we`ll be very interested to
learn who the new owner may be! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Sept 3 at 0245, VG signal with gospel huxter. 0256 ID
as Pastor Pete Peters, Scriptures for America on ``Worldwide Christian
Radio`` --- ! I assume a very old recording and this is not really
WWCR --- its usual 4 frequencies are accounted for. At 0300 I heard no
WTWW ID, tho might have missed it checking WWCR. Off at next check
0453. First time I`ve heard it since April 1; first time back on air?
I`ve asked George McClintock whether he plans to continue this for a
while or what`s up. A few days ago he told me that the property
including the station would be sold in a few months. Maybe a final
proof-of-performance? Tnx to earlier tip/inquiry from Rafael Rodríguez
R., Colombia: ``5085 kHz WTWW on air? Tentative WTWW, Sept 3, 0030,
Male talk some like as predication. Very good signal. Not noted WTWW`s
frequencies active for several weeks ago`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Sept 4 at 0335, no signal from WTWW, but this just in:
``WTWW coming back on --- I have some paid programming and WTWW will
be back on shortly. George McClintock 9-3-2023``. NASWA Flashsheet
headed my previous log ``WWCR`` despite my explaining exactly why it
was WTWW, not WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9980, Sept 4 at 1844, NO signal from this WWCR, normally a
blaster, while the other three remain, 12160, 13845, 15825. 2015
check, 9980 is back on. WWCR-4 on Aug 1 sked is 24/7 TOMBS on Sat &
Sun, but M-F 9980 is OFF at 7-9 am & 11 am-3 pm C[D]T, misconverted as
if UT 13-15 & 17-21! Also the transmitter skeds supposedly expired Aug
31. Traditionally there could have been some minor seasonal changes
come September (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1290 kHz, Sept 5 at 0020 UT, I`m trying to monitor KMMM
Pratt KS, my closest on frequency, to determine its current slogan and
format which allegedly have changed. But dominant signal is pukeworthy
Mark Levin far-right talkshow, must be KWFS Wichita Falls TX, roughly
colinear from south, not north.

Looking at direxional patterns via radio-locator, KMMM favors west,
not south with some nulls/notches more or less in our direxion. By
0037, KWFS gets a medium SAH from something else. KWFS vanishes at
0045 which is its official sunset, cutting from 5000 to 73 watts
night. 0045 is also SS for KMMM, cutting from 5000 to 500 watts and
even more notched toward me.

However, in first few minutes of monitoring before 0030 I heard
slogans both ``Mighty 12-90`` and ``News-Talk 1290`` which I thought
were both KWFS. But NRC AM Log of last year shows KWFS is the
`News-Talk` and KMMM `The Mighty 1290` with country format. But no
such music being heard.

Now at 0048 I am hearing a music station, KMMM? No, it`s KIVY
``Austin`` TX really Crockett. Can`t get FCC AMQuery to reach it, but
Sept SS for another Austinite, KLBJ 590, was 0030 UT. KIVY IDs heard a
few times plugging its two puny translator frequencies, 102.9 and
105.5, not 1290. Format is supposed to be NOStalgic music per
radio-locator, yet its slogan ``Your News Talk Central`` -- slightly
self-contradictory! Per NRC AM Log of last year, KIVY goes from 2500
watts day to 175 night, and NOS slogan is ``America`s Best Music`` --
indeed that`s what I hear at a much later 0648 UT check when it`s
still dominant on 1290 into DX-398 oriented N/S. On my E/W longwire
there is some talk station at 0650, // 1110 KFAB so that would be
C2CAM. Anyhow we still don`t know about KMMM for sure. Official Sept
sunrise for all three 1290s is 1215 UT, if someone can check around
then.

At 1832 UT, precisely local mean noon at this longitude I check 1290
again when the only possible signals would be groundwave, not KIVY.
Two weak signals, the stronger talk, the weaker music, presumably KWFS
and KMMM.

Difficultized by huge line noise level, but at least with DX-398 it`s
somewhat nullable E/W vs the stations N/S. Later I have to spend an
hour on the phone until OG&E agent pixup, and I can file a complaint
about the line noise, which is not only around my place, but all the
way many blox to downtown Enid as I just drove my caradio (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Listening to KUNM Albuquerque webcast, UT Tue Sept 5 from
0400 in `Global Music` show, most of hour has very strange sounds from
Zimbabwe --- vocals are half-speed amd half-pitch, but instrumental
accompaniment sounds normal. How can this happen on a live stream
unless it`s been processed that way at the source? Finally DJ
announcement block before 0500 is *also* half-speed/pitch! But music
after 0500 is back to normal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Listening to KSFR Santa Fé webcast, UT Tue Sept 5 at 0602
UT, expecting to hear `Oil of Dog` with its quirky themesong about
love and hate, and quirky DJ who seems to speak from a script but with
aplomb -- I wish I knew where that quirky title come from, but altho
still on the websked, it`s some other rock music show, with frequent
refs to marijuana, `The Flower Power Hower` -- er, `Hour`. Searching
on that, it`s podcast via iHeart but sounds non-commercial:
https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-the-flower-power-hour-with-92782494/
Probably a holiday substitute for `Oil of Dog`. KSFR has also been
disrupted by water issues on SFCC campus, and the webcast was down
last Thursday for `Beyond Borders` at 15-18 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Robert Conrad has replaced `Weekend Radio` with `Weekend
Classical Radio` on WCLV, webcast, UT Sunday Sept 3 at 0200-0300. I.e.
playing classical music like most of the other 167 hours per week on
WCLV Cleveland OH. Amid the hour he said it marked the end of the
60-year run of the comedy show, which had been one of our favorites.
But in recent months he did appear to be running out of steam, mixing
in old segments with his younger voice; dropping segments like the
typo competition. ``Sagebrush Bob`` must be well over 80; I can`t find
a bio with his birth date. He was co-founder of WCLV in 1962. RIP,
WEEKEND RADIO! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re: `Weekend Radio` is done --- ``Hi Glenn, The Cleveland
Plain Dealer ran an article on Robert Conrad back in January 2020
stating his age as 86 at the time.
https://www.cleveland.com/life-and-culture/j66j-2020/01/5e36d04ec95683/robert-conrad-has-led-wclv-since-1962-my-cleveland.html
Robert Conrad has led WCLV since 1962...
John Sullivan, Cary, North Carolina, USA``

So he is almost 90 now. That`s a fine article with several portraits!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Sept 2 at 0634, NO signal from R. Vanuatu after
several weeks` reliability. When this happen, suspect they have
changed to alternate frequency, but no signal at all on 5040; no point
in checking 3945 here, but no signals on its harmonix either, 7890 &
11835, which used to be a great bonus. Yet later, 0920/1104, Ron
Howard and Manuel Méndez confirm it`s back on 3945 but agree the
harmonix have been eliminated! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZOMBIA [non]. 4940, Aug 31 at 0335, no signal from 4940
Station; but JBA carrier on 4930 as VOA BOTSWANA no doubt succeeds.
Ron Howard says 4940 was also off at 0830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1240.23 approx., Sept 6 at 0345 UT, JBA carrier het on
plus side of 1240 graveyard pileup. Nothing that far off, domestic or
otherwise, in mwoffsets. Also a weaker het on the minus side. With
hundreds of US stations on channel, what`s amazing is that more of
them not be askew, likewise for 1230, 1340, 1400, 1450 and 1490.

Believed to be KCRT Trinidad CO, as last reported June 26, *2021*:

U S A. 1240+, June 26 at 0604 het on the plus side of this
graveyard on the DX-398 looping WNW/ESE? Roughly 1240.2. Likely KCRT
Trinidad CO, long askew. But *still* not on MWOffsets list. Here`s a
review of my logs over the years and the original report, reverse
order: {back to 2013y including 1240.20 exactly}
https://www.w4uvh.net/ghlogs_2021_0624_0630.txt
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6981 approx., Aug 31 at 0329, multi-beepery a few kHz
above and below but can`t pinpoint a single source; and at 0330 sharp
blasted by noise for about 14 seconds plus 1, just like infests 7780
vomiting upon yours truly and anyone else every semi-hour on that WRMI
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7300.00, Aug 31 at 0640, gospel huxter in Amerenglish,
S4 vs storm noise peaks S7. Still on at 0716. Have not heard it much
earlier; previously considerably off-frequency-plus but now close to
accurate; nothing listed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2206)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7300v, Sept 1, long monitoring via UTwente and later
direct, 0330, 0558, 0622, no signal from the American gospel huxter
heard a number of times but not on every night (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7300.482V, Sept 2 at 0548, mystery station is on again
tonight, JBA talk direct at S6 vs S9 storm noise level peaks. Previous
better logs were of American-accented gospel huxter, presumed the same
now. From 0601 to 0615 I check several remotes hoping for better
reception. NO signal at these: UTwente, Missouri, Maryland.

Almost inaudible but able to synch-lock onto carrier, skewed by
various off-calibrations and SDR instability in addition to station`s
own variations upward:
Utah: +520/532 Hz
Georgia: 537/583 Hz; WWV 10 MHz: +0.1-0.6 Hz
KFS California omni: +553/557 Hz; WWV 10 MHz: -0.8 Hz
Bonaire: +569/575. WWV 10 MHz: +3/4 Hz

At 0622 I ask others to try to hear and ID it, in the WOR iog, HCDX,
and even RealDX which normally deals only with after-the-fact analysis
of recordings. NO replies found by 10 hours later!

At 0627 back to my own R75, which is getting it better than any of
those remotes! But still JBA, now 7300.62 apx.
At 0653 on 7300.70 apx. Next check at wakeup 0942, unheard (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7305, Aug 31 at 0343 music I assumed would be easily
looked up, but nothing this hour in EiBi, Aoki, WRTH 24 Aug Update;
but an HFCC registration of something: ``7305 0330 0430 40 DHA 250
35 0 803 1234567 260323 291023 D 16000 Fas UAE ADM ADM 3697 UAE``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2206)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7305, Sept 1 at 0330-0400+, NO signal into UTwente
except some RTTY warbling nearby; unlike last night when unID
broadcaster was here. Probably DHA UAE site testing, registered as
Farsi at 0330-0430.

EiBi shows the only existing 0330-0430 possibilities on other
frequencies are: R. Liberty in Pashto via Thailand and Germany; R.
Tamazuj via Vatican & Madagascar for Sudan South; and VOA
Kirundi/Kinyarwanda via São Tomé and Botswana (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

THE TINY TRAP

Heard on CBS` 60 MINUTES at 2306 UT Sept 3, strangely enough, not
delayed by stupid ballgames for up to an hour, but made up for that by
middle story being about Australian rules football; but the first
story called CYPRUS, ``A TINY MEDITERRANEAN ISLAND`` -- and even says
that on website:

``60 Minutes - Newsmakers
Cyprus: Searching for the money of Russian oligarchs
By Sharyn Alfonsi September 3, 2023 / 7:00 PM {sic} / CBS News

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cyprus-russia-money-60-minutes-2023-09-03/

How do you hide that much money from an international community that
says it's determined to find it? The question led us to Cyprus - a
tiny Mediterranean island at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and the
Middle East. As we first reported in January, the once bustling
vacation spot is in the middle of an international game of hide and
seek.``

Per Almanaque Mundial, Area is 9251 sq km. In story also mentions
population of 1 million --- TINY??? Area of e.g. MONACO is 1.9 sq km
-- now that`s tiny, but Cyprus is 4869 X the size of Monaco. Come on!

ANOTHER TINY TRAP

``Tiny Portugal`` says Rick Steves on OETA/PBS, Sept 4 at 0236 UT on
his (C) 2023 hourlong `Art of the Renaissance` which I watched with
great attention; excellent except for this major gaffe. And most shots
of him as at present grey-haired, but some blondies without otherwise
revealing this was a mixture of old and new stuff. 92,082 sq km =
almost 10 X the size of Cyprus.

THE TINY TRAP

At least the SMALLY TRAP. A few minutes into BBC World News America,
after 2230 UT Sept 5 via PBS/OETA, Cuba is ``a small island nation``
--- well, as RHC often reminds us, it`s ``The Greatest of the
Antilles``, which is certainly true. Yet it`s only about half the area
of Cuba del Norte, a.k.a. Florida. But small? Hardly
